The Practice of Presence
The Practice of Presence is a form of Christian contemplative practice expressed through prayer, meditation, and mindful breathing, described in further detail in the book Choosing Presence: How to Access God’s Peace and Release Fear, Anxiety, and Stress by Jim Heaney.
Morning Meditation - The Practice of Presence
We start each day with the practice of presence and bring in stillness. That is our foundation that we return to throughout the day. Practice this exercise in a quiet, comfortable place, if possible, either sitting on the floor or in a chair, with your back straight. Aim to work up to 15 to 20 minutes.
Conscious presence is becoming aware of God’s spiritual being through stillness and intention.
The Practice Is About Doing!
Practicing presence isn’t just about understanding—it’s about doing. Without personally experiencing the freedom and deep connection that presence brings—God’s spiritual energy within us—we won’t truly believe in its power to transform our lives.
We cannot control God's spiritual energy. We can only be present to it.
Embrace Peace Through Practicing Presence
We practice presence consistently until it becomes our habit. Then, God’s Spirit guides us, revealing the choice between fear and conflict, or peace in this present moment. Start your practice now! Download the free Practicing Presence App and experience the difference.
